Comet McNaught is the brightest comet to pass across the Southern Hemisphere sky in almost 40 years. Comet McNaught is about 100 times brighter than Halley's Comet.
Closer to the sun, it's only visible for up to one hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise in the Southern Hemisphere.
